You or someone else is going to get wet installing the Aquatii light and camera module on the transom 1 to 3 feet underwater, so get out the wet suit, mask and snorkel! The actual in-the-water install time is only a few minutes if you follow these instructions! To mount the Aquatii module, select an area of flat surface on the transom, typically in the center, 1 to 3 feet under the water surface with an unobstructed view of the area behind the boat.

Select a place directly above and out of the water like just under a swim step to drill a 7/16 dia hole into the boat (check to make sure you are not going to drill into a fuel tank, hose, wiring or stringer etc.) and use a cordless drillmotor just in case you drop it into the water, so you won’t be electrocuted!

Use the included waterproof sanding medium to scuff sand the area where the Aquatii will be mounted, you want the surface clean, sand through bottom paint to find hull surface if you have ablative bottom paint, and also scuff 4 or 5 inches wide from this area to the area you drilled the hole as this is where the cable enters the boat and is secured with underwater adhesive between the Aquatii module and the hole!

You will have about 10 minutes maximum to mount the Aquatii interface disc on the boat, so get everything you need ready before you start. It’s a good idea to have another person there just in case you need something you didn’t think of or just to help hold things for you. Make sure the alignment tool is installed on the front of the interface disc.

Using a 13:1 thrust ratio caulking gun, not the cheapo 6:1 thrust ratio, apply underwater adhesive to the back of the wetted interface disc approximately 3/8 inch thick with 3/8 inch beads covering about 70% to 80% of the surface. Push disc onto transom with a bit of twisting motion to help force out water from the adhesive bond. Orient the alignment fixture with the long end pointing up at 12 o’clock. Don’t squeeze all the adhesive out either, leave the adhesive about 1/16 to 1/8 inch thick between disc and transom. The adhesive will start to harden in about 20 minutes.

Orient the alignment fixture with the long arm pointing straight up (12 o’clock) so that the 2 rivnuts in the disc are horizontal. This insures the video picture is not tilted. For now just tape the upper end of the alignment tool (cut it off if too long) to the transom so it doesn’t flop around and disturb the adhesive in its pre-cure stage.

Tomorrow you will remove the alignment tool completely so you can install the Aquatii. Most of the adhesive will cure in 24 hours, the inner area will take longer, allow a week for full cure. Resist testing the strength of this bond. With enough force you can destroy the adhesive bond and peel the Aquatii interface disc away from the transom!

Don’t worry about the excess adhesive as you can cut it off neatly tomorrow with a putty knife instead of making a mess with your finger today.

At this point you will mount the Aquatii module to the interface disc with the two included screws and a little sealer on the threads to lock the screws in. Make sure to remove the alignment tool and orient the power cable in the 12 o'clock position. Then insert the connector and cable into the 7/16-diameter hole previously drilled into the boat. Squirt enough adhesive into the hole to create a good waterproof seal.

You will now secure the cable to the transom with underwater adhesive! Scuff sand/clean the area under the cable and an area about 2” to either side. Apply a 3/8 inch or larger bead of adhesive on each side of the cable on the transom, then apply the included clear plastic film to cover the cable and adhesive. Using your fingers, massage/form the adhesive under the film so it encapsulates the cable and has good contact with the transom. When finished the adhesive will be about 1” wide contacted on the transom with the cable totally encapsulated. Leave the film in place for a few days, then pull it off!

The next and last thing to do is install the junction module (3 x 6 x 2 inches) inside of the boat in a convenient area, high and dry, you don’t want this to get wet! Run the coaxial cable to the TV and plug it into the junction module. Run the 12V DC or 24V DC power wires from your on / off switch to the provided power plug with screw terminals and plug into the junction module. Then plug the cable from the Aquatii module into the junction module. If you got the connector wet simply rinse with alcohol and let dry prior to plugging it in. You are done with the installation! Turn on the TV and enjoy your new aquarium!

Don’t forget to clean the face of the Aquatii module periodically with your deck brush for the best performance!
